Chosen as the target for the Artemis Project Reference Mission, Mare Anguis, also known as Angus Bay or the Sea of Serpents, is an unevenly shaped basaltic region to the northeast of Mare Crisium.
It is believed that the region may have a large concentration of lava tubes.
