The Mean Earth/Polar Axis system is the International Astronomical UnionExodictionary.png recommended system for determining Lunar coordinates. Virtually all readily usable Lunar data will be using this system, and most organizations are content with this system.

Criticism

It has been pointed out[1] that the current system requires reference to a location that is not on Luna itself, is something that is not constant in regards to its exact position, and was designed for the convenience of terrestrial navigation, not the purposes we need a mapping system for.
