A lunar geologist working at Johns Hopkins [[Applied Physics Laboratory]], formerly associated with the [[Lunar and Planetary Institute]].

Spudis has been involved with several lunar missions, including analysis of data from the [[Clementine]] orbiter, the new NASA [[Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter]] mission, and India's [[Chandrayaan-1]] mission where Spudis is principle investigator for a radar mapping instrument to try to confirm the presence of water ice at the lunar poles.

Spudis was one of the members of the [[Aldridge Commission]] in 2004, which studied the implementation of President Bush's "New Vision for Space Exploration".

Author of ''The Once and Future Moon'' and one or two other books.
