USRA is based in Houston, Texas, near the [[NASA]] [[Johnson Space Center]] offers various benefits and services. 

One interesting program, USRA sometimes act as an informal clearing house to broker free satellite launch opportunities for non-profit educational spacecraft. For example, if a launch vehicle company has unused or surplus payload mass available on a scheduled commercial launch, they will sometimes approach USRA to find a payload to fill the gap, otherwise they would have to simply fly ballast. 

USRA also acts as a host for the [[Lunar and Planetary Institute]].
