The X-Prize organization is currently running a contest with a 30 million dollar prize for the first private lunar rover. [1]
The winner must minimally:
- Safely land a robot on the surface of the Moon
- Travel 500 meters
- Send images and data to Earth
- Be 90% privately funded
- Complete by December 31, 2014
