Anorthite is a mineral similar to Bauxite. It's composition is CaAl2Si2O8.
Anorthite is the primary component of the rock Anorthosite. Anorthosite is the primary rock in the lunar highlands, and is responsible for their relative brightness compared to the basaltic lowlands.
Anorthite is proposed as an ore material for production of aluminum, calcium, and silicon.
