Lavatubes are a good choice for a first generation space habitat on the moon becaues they provide a ready made structure. It is possible to seal the microscopic cracks in surface of the walls of the lavatube, and thus provide an air tight environment which can be a shirt sleave environment. Living in a lavatube provides many advantages.
