Telemetry of the vital signs is important. One worker in a protective suit in a hostile environment should have another monitoring vital signs and suit condition remotely just in case the first worker is not sufficiently attentive and misses a danger indication on her own display. The worker can be warned to head for the air lock or a rescue team can rush in to retrieve her.
A heart monitor is a device used on Earth to accomplish this purpose.[1]
