Mercury is the first planet from the sun. It has almost no atmosphere, and could be considered a larger analogue to the Moon. Mining techniques developed for use on the Moon could be adapted for use on Mercury. Mercury is one of three rocky bodies in the solar system that exhibit a global geomagnetic field, the others being Earth and Ganymede.
