Arthur P. Smith is a former vice president for chapters of the National Space Society and, a former director of the Moon Society.

He has a PhD in Physics from Cornell University, and has worked as a researcher in the properties of materials at Indiana University, Argonne National Lab, and the University of Washington (for part of that time working on projects with people at Pacific Northwest National Lab). He currently works as a computer software development manager with a staff of six at the American Physical Society in Ridge, NY
