Renowned astronomer and director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Tyson has been host and editor for several years of the PBS show Nova Science Now, and regularly appears in media interviews on astronomical topics, such as the recent controversy over Pluto's status as a planet.

Neil deGrasse Tyson served on the 2002 Aerospace Commission and the 2004 Aldridge Commission on the future of space. He has served on numerous other study groups as well. He is also currently president of the board of directors of The Planetary Society.
